With its warm rustic simplicity and rich expressiveness, it gained popularity by many tea masters under the aesthetic sense of Wabi-Sabi. These days, more kilns are creating new designs by devising glazes and slips, whilst developing and also protecting its traditional techniques.

Maruju Seitou

Maruju Seitou was established in 1937 in Shiga Prefecture, specializing in Shigaraki ware, a type of pottery made in Shiga known for being one of Japan’s six ancient kilns. They aim to uphold the traditions and techniques that have been passed down, conveying the warmth of pottery while incorporating modern ideas.

Care for Kintsugi Pieces
Due to the delicate nature of Kintsugi repairs, it’s important to handle your piece with extra care. The gold or silver-filled cracks are part of the piece's unique character, but they can be more fragile than the original ceramic. To preserve the beauty of your Kintsugi item:

• Avoid using it in the microwave or dishwasher.
• Gently hand wash with a soft cloth and mild detergent.
