The Frustum teapot reinterprets traditional Japanese forms through a contemporary lens. Its edged form recalls the bold silhouette of cast-iron kettles crafted in northern Japan, giving it a striking and distinctive presence. Balancing modern design with classic shapes, it brings a refined touch to everyday tea.

This harmony of old and new has been recognised internationally — the Frustum received the prestigious Red Dot Design Award (Germany) in 2020.

The Shiroai-yū glaze has a softly textured finish, adding a gentle character to each piece.

Each teapot comes in a specially designed box, making it a thoughtful choice for gifting. A tea strainer is included.

Brass Handle
The handle is produced in Tsubame, Niigata, a region renowned for its metalwork. Finished in a muted gold tone, the brass will naturally develop a rich patina with use. You may let it age gracefully or maintain its sheen with a dedicated brass cream.
(See photos for an example of how the finish evolves over time.)

Handle Care & Attachment
The fitting may feel slightly tight at first. Hold both ends of the handle, gently widen, and insert from either the front or back for a smoother fit.

Avoid forcing or over-widening, as this may damage the handle.

Over time, contact points may leave faint dark lines known as metal marks. These are harmless and can be cleaned by removing the handle and soaking the area with kitchen paper and a mild acidic cleaner.
